This list is wonderful. I'm looking forward to checking out many of these titles. I'd also add The Other Bennet Sister by Janice Harlow to your list. Is a beautiful book about Mary Bennet getting her happily ever after.

Really liked this book. A completely different take on some of the P&P characters.

What a fun list! Especially happy to have made the acquaintance of Susan Ferrier. First time hearing of her.

I second the enthusiasm for Susan Ferrier. I have not read it but would like to now. Thanks! Also, I think The Tenant of Wildfell Hall is much too dark to compare to Austen.

I agree. But I chose “The Tenant…” more for some of its similar themes and characterization to “Pride and Prejudice”, not really for the atmosphere they both differently depict.

Great selection. I remember loving North and South and really must reread. As for Georgette Heyer I spent most of my teenage years reading every one of her books - I still have most of them. Always a little cautious of the retellings/sequels although I did enjoy Death comes to Pemberley and the other Bennet sister. Some of these sound intriguing…

This is a great list - a good mix of classics and retellings! I added some of these to my TBR.

I also enjoyed Pride, Prejudice and Jasmin Field, by Melissa Nathan (2000)

There are some marvellous suggestions here. Thank you.

But also, if you ever wondered what happened to Georgiana in Pride & Prejudice, you may wish to try my short story, Miss Georgiana Darcy's Quest For Love. Very much written in the style of Jane, but with an optional steam scene at the end ;-)

Or, there is my full length novel, Regency Love.

No mention for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies? Often wondered if that was any good.

It depends if you like zombies which I'm not a particular fan. But I tried to mention titles that haven't gotten that much attention compared to other tellings but it is definitely a noteworthy retelling to keep in mind.

What a great spin-off collection. I think I will stick to the original authors of the period 😄📚🩷
